Howto Add "Read More Expandable Posts link in Blogger

Sunday, February 28, 2010

This tutorial is very easy if you just follow this step by step tutorial properly. With this hack, you can choose to display only a selected amount of text from the beginning of each post as a teaser instead of showing the entire post on the front page of your blog. Then when people want to read the rest of your post, they can click a “Read more...” link to read your entire post. (Note that you’ll need to have post pages enabled in order to make this feature work.)

Update Your Template Code:

1. Login to your Blogger account and go to Layout > Edit HTML (click Expand Widget Template).

2. Find this line of code:

<data:post.body/>

3. Copy this code just before the code above:

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>
<style>.fullpost{display:inline;}</style>
<p><data:post.body/></p>
<b:else/>
<style>.fullpost{display:none;}</style>

4. Now, copy this code just after the code above <data:post.body/>

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != "item"'><br />
<a expr:href='data:post.url'>Read more...</a>
</b:if>
</b:if>

Change the Read more... text to whatever link text you want to appear. The result should look something like this now:

5. Save your template.

Adding Class Tag in Your Default Post Template:

1. In your Blogger Dashboard, go to Settings > Formatting and scroll all the way down to the bottom. Copy this code and then save settings:

<span class="fullpost">

</span>

It should look something like this:

Creating a New Post:

When you click the Posting tab (HTML mode), you'll notice that your default post template now has<span class="fullpost"> and </span>tags. Anything you put above the tag<span class="fullpost"> will be the teaser text. The main body of your post needs to go in between the<span class="fullpost"> and </span>tags in order for the “read more…” link to work properly. See image below:

Publish or preview your new post to see your newly created "Read More..." works on your blog.

what is 'Monetize' tab in blogger?

The Monetize tab in Blogger makes it easy to enable AdSense ads on your blog. Once enabled, Blogger will retrieve your AdSense earnings data directly from AdSense so you do not need to go to AdSense to get basic earnings information.

AdSense Reports
Once you start generating AdSense impressions, you will begin earning money when people click on ads that show on your site.

The earnings report (visible when you click on the Monetize link from your Dashboard, or the Monetize tab when viewing your blog while logged into Blogger) includes a drop-down bar with Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, This Month, Last Month, and All time.

Selecting an option will retrieve the relevant report directly from AdSense.

All time
If you are already an AdSense user, you will notice that Blogger created a new channel (with the URL of your blog) in your account. If you have had AdSense ads on your blog before using Blogger’s AdSense integration to insert ads into your blog, it is important to note that All time will retrieve data only from the time you connected Blogger to your AdSense account.

This in no way affects your overall AdSense reporting, available directly from AdSense.

Terminology

The AdSense report visible from the Monetize tab contains basic information about how many ads have run on your blog, how many clicks were generated, and how much revenue you have earned. Each term in the report is defined below:

Page impression: A page impression is generated every time a user views a page displaying Google ads. We will count one page impression regardless of the number of ads displayed on that page. For example, if you have a page displaying three ad units and it is viewed twice, you will generate two page impressions and six ad unit impressions.
•Clicks:# The number of times an ad was clicked on in the given reporting period.
•Page CTR (Clickthrough Rate): The number of ad clicks divided by the number of impressions for the page of ads that appears when a link unit is clicked.
•Page eCPM (Effective Cost Per Thousand Impressions): Calculated by dividing earnings by number of page impressions and multiplying. This makes it easier to compare multiple sites to see which are performing better.
•Earnings:
Total revenue earned to date. More detail about earnings is available in the AdSense Help Center.

Howto choose a profItable NICHE (TOPIC) FOR YOUR BLOG?

Choosing a profitable niche
for your blog is what you would have to storm your brain for if you are serious about making money from your blog. In fact this is the next important thing you would have to do after you have decided to make a blog for your self. You would have to take care of the finer points while choosing the topic for your blog.

In this post I will try to draw your attention to the points I think you must go through or consider before choosing a topic or niche for your blog - as I have said "specially if you intend to earn money from your blog".

1. KNOWLEDGE, PASSION, INTEREST

Do I have enough knowledge about the topic? Am I passionate enough about the topic? Is the topic of enough interest to me? These are the few questions you must ask yourself when you are choosing a topic for your blog. And if the answers to all of these questions is a confident "YES" then I must say - you are at least heading towards the right direction.

In fact this is the most important aspect you would have to consider because blogs by nature are meant to be frequently updated with new content - at least the bloggers who are successful does - put the other way the visitors to your blog will expect this from you - frequently updating your blog is what will give life to your blog or else it will be considered a 'DEAD BLOG' (you will find millions of dead blogs online).

To update your blog frequently with fresh and interesting content you need enough understanding of the subject, enough passion and interest in the subject of your blog - because we are humans and by nature we love to do what we LIKE and are passionate about - remember blogging is a long term affair so likings and passion is very much required.

Many bloggers start their blogs with frequent updates or new posts but as time goes on they seem to lose steam and then updates become less and less frequent till it stops one day - thus creating one more dead blog. So choose a topic or niche that interests you and you feel passionate about. Choose a niche that you know quiet a lot about, have read about a lot and would love to write about.

2. SEARCH VOLUME OR MARKET DEMAND

The search volume (how many times people has searched for that topic with relevant keywords through major search engines per month) which can give you an idea about the demand of that particular topic - more the search volume more the demand - more the demand more the possibility of drawing traffic - more traffic = more money - remember we live in a world where every thing depends upon its demand.

A blog build around a less demanding niche will ultimately draw less traffic - less traffic = less money - because the income a blog can generate is directly proportional to the amount of traffic it pulls. As the income comes mainly from advertising and affiliate sales - both of these depends upon traffic. I hope this is pretty simple.

Now, how will you find the search volume for your niche? There are many tools available online to help you find the search volume of the niche you are targeting to make a profitable blog. One such tool is Google AdWords Keyword Tool - just type one or two words that is relevant to your niche or the niche itself and hit enter (also tick the 'use synonyms' check box) - you will be provided with the search volume of various combinations of your keywords and its synonyms on Google per month. One more good tool from Google is Google Traffic Estimator. Another good tool is Good Keywords.

3. AVAILABILITY OF CONTENT

As already said that blogs by nature 'are' or 'are expected' to be updated by new posts frequently so you do need enough stock of content to continue blogging. If you only rely on your own content stock then let me tell you that you will soon find yourself running out of stock. So you need many resources from where you can get new content or ideas to learn from and then be able to put it in your own words.

To get content you would have to deal on both offline and online resources like magazines, newspapers, forums, other blogs, rss subscriptions etc. So you would have to make sure you have lot of these in your niche. Specific magazines and newspapers are to be subscribed which writes about your niche. You would have to join forums and participate in discussions related to your topic - do not hesitate to ask questions or to present your views. Blogs are to be found out that talks about your niche and then subscribe to their RSS feeds to get the latest updates.

If you are thinking I am talking about duplicating content then you have totally mistaken me. What I meant above is to read and learn and then present your ideas in an innovative way in your own words. Never ever duplicate content if you want your blog not to be blacklisted by the search engines. I hope you have understood what I mean. Moreover this is what all bloggers do. And even in normal life everybody has to learn things for the first time somewhere from somebody because what we speak and practice is what we have learnt nothing is stored in our brains when we were born. 'We all learn from each other'.

To search for blogs do a Google Blogsearch or search through any search engine with your niche relevant keywords plus the word 'blogs' attached to it and then bookmark the blogs whose content you like.

To search for forums in your niche type in the search box your niche relevant keywords plus 'forums' and then bookmark the ones that you like.

4. CHOOSE A WIDE NICHE

Do not choose a very narrow niche which has a very little to be written about. Choose such a niche which has many sub-niches thus giving you more variety to write upon and more scope for innovation. For example :-

•You can choose ENVIRONMENT where you can blog about Global Warming, Green Peace, Climatic Changes, Effect of Industry, Ecosystems, Environmental Education and etc.

•You can choose HEALTH AND FITNESS where you can blog about Health Tips, Fat Loss, Body Building, Women's Health, Personal Hygiene, Smoking, Diet Supplements and etc.

•You can choose TECHNOLOGY where you can blog about Electronics Gadgets, Cameras, Mobiles, Computers, Televisions and etc.

You can choose ONLINE MONEY MAKING where you can blog about Online Money Making Ways, Blogging, SEO, Paid Surveys, Freelance Jobs and etc.

•You can choose SPORTS where you can blog about Indoor Games, Outdoor Games, Sports Goods, Sporting Events, Martial Arts, Food Supplements, Sports Heroes and etc.

SOME TYPICAL SITUATIONS THAT MAY ARISE

•Say you have chosen a niche that you are interested in, have passion for, have enough knowledge about, has a wide scope and have moderate resources but not enough search volume - then what to do? My advice is - if your purpose is to monetize your blog then no doubt this is not the right niche for you so 'FORGET IT'. Because low search volume = low interest = low traffic = low or no income - simple maths! The solution - start all over again and choose another (be more planned in your approach this time as you already know some of the pitfalls now).

Say you have chosen a topic which has enough search volume, wide scope of sub-topics and has available content but you are new to the topic so does not have enough interest, passion or knowledge about - then what to do? My advice is - this time you are not that much far from choosing the niche for your blog - just give yourself some time and learn as much as you can from the available resources and when you feel confident about your niche start your blog. Remember its never too late to learn anything - learning has no age - all the experts in your niche has also learned about the niche and in fact they are still learning because knowledge has no end. So start learning. But this would depend if you are willing to start and learn something new.

SOME LAST WORDS - All the above points that I have discussed is been done assuming that you want to create a blog for profit but if you are not interested in money, rather you want to blog about something not caring about who reads it or its monetizing factor, or just want to blog for fun, or just want to get a feel of blogging then too you can start a blog and in that case you can be least concerned about the above points. But for the ones who wants to take up blogging for profit those points are a must for them to consider.

OVER TO YOU - I hope the process is clear to you but if you have any comment or suggestion or question to ask please do so in the comment section below. Any response from your side is highly appreciated. You'll give LIFE to my blog.

Easy Ways To Make Extra Cash Online

Google AdSense now have another competitor - Kontera ContentLink™. Kontera provides contextual ads they called ContentLink™ using what they refer to as their patent-pending technology. You can read more about it by surfing Kontera's site.

It appears to me that there are some improvements of Kontera ContentLink™ over AdSense Text Ads. When you hover your mouse over the ContentLink™, a tool tip (a small box) will appear displaying the full text ad from the advertiser that sponsors that ContentLink™. The visitor then can choose either to ignore the ad or click on it if he find that that is what he is seeking. Furthermore, it either provides a relevant ad or an internal link to another relevant page within your site or network of sites. It may also provide 3rd Party Information Links to external information including dictionaries and encyclopedias. This provides for a better visitor experience and will encourage repeat visits. However, I do not know if publishers are paid for clicks to such sites but I very much doubt it. I will query Kontera and update this post when I receive a response.

A further improvement of Kontera ContentLink™ over AdSense is that Kontera ContentLink™ can display ads even in password protected sites.

However, there is a big difference between Google AdSense and Kontera ContentLink™. Google AdSense are prepared to work with small publishers and imposes no condition on the amount of traffic they receive to their sites, but Kontera ContentLink™ will only approve sites that have over 250,000 page impressions per month. That will rule out many blogs.

It gives you free content, it gives the guest blogger increased exposure and a link back to their own blog or website, and it offers your readers more content as well as a new perspective on the same niche or industry.

Do You Need a Blog Sitemap?

If you have a blog, you may be wondering if you need to have a blog sitemap. What is a blog sitemap and what does having a blog sitemap mean for your website? A blog sitemap is a collection of links outlining the structure of your entire website. These links make it possible for your visitors to navigate quickly and easily to any section of your website as long as it is listed properly in your sitemap. The purpose of a blog sitemap is to make finding posts and pages easier by listing all of them in one place. There are a number of advantages that are associated with having a sitemap. So much so, in fact, that not having a blog sitemap is actually harmful to the productivity and functionality of your website.

So, what are the advantages associated with having a blog sitemap?

In addition to making it significantly easier for the visitors to your blog to navigate through your site, your blog sitemap is also going to make it significantly easier for search engine spiders to move through your site as well. This is going to improve the search engine optimization for your site by ensuring that every one of the pages on your site is capable of being found. This is going to increase your visibility in the search engines which in turn is going to increase the amount of traffic that your website generates.

Since most online search engines only follow a specific number of links going from a page, having your own blog sitemap is going to make sure that both visitors and search engines can access every piece of content on your website, not just some of it or most of it.

So, do you need a blog sitemap?

Whether or not you need a blog sitemap is largely going to depend on the type of website that you are running. If you do not have a lot of content yet, then a sitemap may not be necessary. On the other hand, if you are writing a blog and posting every day, as your page grows to include more content, having your own blog sitemap is going to be vitally important to the success of your site. Having a blog sitemap is going to make sure that people can find and read your content. It is going to make sure that the search engines spider and crawl your website. And when these things happen – That is when blog success happens.

So how do you get a sitemap?

If you have WordPress or Blogger, you should already be able to put up a sitemap based on plugins and code that is already set up. Otherwise, find a XML sitemap generating tool and get to work. You shouldn’t need to create your own sitemap from scratch – There are dynamic tools that can make it happen for you.

How to Create good Blog Entries?

How to Get Started With Niche Blogging

Are you already participating in the creation of a blog? If you are not out there blogging already, then you are definitely missing out on a truly booming market, not to mention what is essentially one of the latest and greatest fads on the internet. Today it seems as if everyone is blogging these days. If your parents or grand parents have a computer, they may even be blogging! Blogging is not just about being fun anymore, but instead it has become a serious business that really seems to be taking off. There are people out there who are making a living blogging full time simply by writing in a blog every day. Can you imagine spending a little bit of time blogging online and making enough money to survive on?

There are basically two different types of blogging: Regular blogging and niche blogging. Niche blogging is where the real money is right now. If you can learn how niche blogging functions, then you can make money online just like everyone else. Here is how niche blogging works: First you do some research to find out what types of niches are becoming popular. Then you create a blog on one of these niche topics. Then you find affiliate products that relate to the blog that you are writing in. Now you write a blog entry every single day. Market your blog as much as you possibly can, and collect the money when it begins to roll in. That sounds fairly simple, does it not?

Once you get the hang of things, they definitely are simple – But starting out at the beginning takes a little bit more work, and it will take some thought and some serious research. First you need to research your niche and figure out what you should be blogging about. Your niche should be unique, but it should also meet a need or supply a solution to a problem that will have people looking for you. Your blog should be unique even if your niche is not completely unique – So find a unique solution, unique information or something else that makes you special, and begin blogging. It is also important to find keywords that people will be using to find your niche – The keyword research part of the process should take a while, and a lot of thought, but the more work you put into the process, the more that it will pay off in the end. If you want to compete with other bloggers operating within your niche, then you need to be using keywords effectively because it makes all the difference.

If you are having trouble coming up with a niche, try to find something that interests you and go from there. Think of a problem that you have, and find a solution. Now market that solution to the other people in the world who have the same problem and you have an instant niche. Blog about it every day, and your blog truly can become a source of income for you.

10 Benefits of Hosting your Own Blog

If you want to create an edge over many of the other bloggers on the web, then one of the best things that you can do is host your own blog. There are a number of benefits of hosting your own blog over having some other service host your blog. Here are ten of the most prevalent benefits.

1 – Professional Appearance –

Hosting your own blog gives your blog a professional appearance, because you can use your own domain name or website name and can host your blog on your own website. If you do not host your own blog, you will have a lengthy blog URL which will make it appear less professional and will make it more difficult for readers to recall the name and website for your blog.

2 – Design –

Another benefit of hosting your own blog is the fact that you have a lot more freedom regarding the design. When you host your own blog, you do not have to follow a pre set design but can design your own blog layout instead.

3 – Recall Ability –

By hosting your own blog, you can make your blog easier to recall among readers. What address do you think is easier to recall, http://www.blogsite.com or http://blogsite.blogger.com/~blogname? The easier your domain name is, the easier it will be for readers to recall it, and this is one of the greatest benefits for hosting your own blog.

4 – Content Control –

While there are not normally really strict guidelines regarding content, when you have your blog hosted by a blogging network, your choices in content can be restricted. By hosting your own blog, you can have much larger control over your content.

5 – Security –

By hosting your own blog on your own website, you can have more control over your security, and will be better able to protect your own blog rather relying on someone else to do it.

6 – Brand Promotion –

By hosting your own blog, it will be easier to develop and promote your own brand. Even if you are not selling something, hosting your own blog will provide greater individuality than what shared hosting can offer.

7 – Revenue Generation –

When you host your blog with someone else, you have less control over generating revenue. When you host your own blog, however, you have much greater control over how you generate revenue online.

8 – Growth –

While starting on a blogging network makes sense, if you want to grow your blog, you need to go independent. By hosting your own blog, you can create a much larger level of growth over time.

9 – Site Integration –

By hosting your own blog, you can integrate your blog with your website, rather than having to create a completely separate website from your blog.

10 – More Traffic –

Hosting your own blog will also allow you to generate more traffic, because your posts will be easier to find in search engines.

howto Maintaining Your Blog for Long Term Income

Online blogging is one of the fastest growing platforms on the internet and every other individual who is aware of some basics of blogging is considering blogging as a tool for generating some extra income. However, a person can start a blog quite easily but the big concern comes into play when it comes to the maintenance of the blog.

Online blogging is not about making a blog and doing nothing after the creation of the blog instead, it is about creating and then maintaining a blog for a long period of time. If your blog is properly maintained, then users will remain attracted towards your blog for a long period of time, if not maintained properly, then they won’t be considering your services or products for their queries and concerns.

Below are some blog maintenance tips that can help you make money from blogging for long period of time:

The quality of the content

This is the most important aspect to consider and to maintain. The blog without quality content is just like a body without soul. The content should have characteristics of freshness and quality should be there each and every time. The reader will again and again come over to your blog if he finds some useful and fresh information for his/her concerns. You should maintain your blog on timely basis like daily, weekly or on monthly basis whichever suits you according to your schedule. Different types of blogs need different kind of maintenance but quality content is the major aspect of almost every type of blog apart from a video blog which needs to be maintained at every cost.

Management of the time

Time management is also required from your part if you want to properly maintain your blog. You must devote some time to your blog on regular basis in order to keep your blog active. You must post new and unique content on regular and consistent basis. You can outsource this task to someone else if you don’t have sufficient time available for posting content on your blog.

Keep your blog up to date

Always keep your blog up to date. You must discuss new and trendy topics on your blog related to the niche. If you have a blog related to the computers then you must discuss about latest technology rather disclosing the features of Pentium III and Pentium IV. People are only interested in new and up to date content, out dated content or information will surely leave a question mark on the overall reputation of your blog.

Howto Change blog background color and others

Labels: colors, fonts

With New Blogger, it is very easy to change colors of various thing, and that include the blog background color. All you need to do is to sign into blogger.com (Dashboard) where you will see a list of all the blogs you have in your Blogger account. Click on LAYOUT for the relevant blog,
then click on the "Fonts and colors" sub tab. You will then see a page to change the colors of various things as seen in the screenshot below:

The first choice is to "Change Page Background Color" and that has already been selected for you. You can select the color you want by one of the boxes that contain "Colors from your blot", "Colors that match your blog" or "More colors". If non of the colors given there is what you want, you can get a wide range of color by typing in the hexadecimal color code (highlighted by a red ellipse) of the color you want. For this purpose, I normally uses ColorPic or Color Blender, the use of which have been described in these posts:

Blending the colors of your ads to the colors of your website and

Blending the color of your search box to the colors of your website.

After you have made a selection, click "Save changes".

You can see from the scroll box in the left section that there are other things whose color and font you can change.

Howto Blending color of your search box to the colors of the site

I do not know if the color of a Google AdSense search box have any effect on the earnings that one can get from displaying the search box. But one thing I know. If you don't blend the color of the search box to the colors of the website, the attractiveness of the site.

The first step is of course to sign into your AdSense account, and the first page displayed will be a report of your earnings. There are 3 tabs at the top of the report - Report, AdSense Setup, My Account. Click the AdSense Setup tab. By default you will initially be in the Products sub tab and 3 choices are presented to you in the page below the sub-tabs - AdSense for Content, AdSense for Search and Referrals.

Click "AdSense for Search". It will be much faster if you choose to do everything in the same page, rather than having to configure page by page and waiting for the new page to open. Click "Single Page" at the top of the page. If you are doing a sitesearch box, type in the URL of the site you want searched. Make sure you don't add a / to the back of the URL. If you are copying the URL from the address bar or other means, remove the backslash /.

By default, you will only have 3 choices for the background color of your search box - black, white, gray. If you want more choices, you will have to get rid of the Google logo by ticking ""Google Search" on button" and you will be presented with more choices of color plus specifying the color using HTML color codes (see screenshot below, click to enlarge).

If you want more choices that the white, black, gray, green, blue, red, yellow, purple that you can select from the drop-down menu, you will have to choose "Use HTML codes". To make your choice more accurate, you will have to get a color picker to get the colors found on your site. Go to Iconico and download their ColorPic. With this tool, you can place your cursor (mouse) on any part of your site and the color plus HTML code will be displayed on your ColorPic tool. If you find the color not changing, press ctrl+G.

You have a choice of completely merging the background color of your search box with the color of the part of your site where you want to place your search box, like this blog: Guide to Japan, or choose complementary color for the search box background, like this one: Guide to China, where the color of the search box stand out slightly from the background.

This is how it is done. The first example is easily done. Just open ColorPic and place the cursor (mouse) over the part you are going to place the box, note the HTML code and enter that code into the appropriate field in the AdSense page. In the second case (Guide to China), the easiest is I just describe how I did it.

With ColorPic, I noted the color of the sidebar (#556655) and the main column (#CCDDBB). I then go to Color Blender, and entered the 2 HTML color codes into the 2 extreme color (Color 1 and Color 2). I then have to select the number of mid-points (complementary colors in between) that I want (the choice is from 1 to 10). I chose 10, and the 10 complementary colors in between the 2 are generated (see screenshot below, click to enlarge)

I chose the one nearer the color of the main column (#B2C3A4) so that while the search box appear apart from the background, it does not stand out too much.

The rest is selecting whether you want your search result page to open in the same window (default) or new window and if you want a custom channel.

When done, the script will be in the box at the bottom of the page ready for you to copy and paste into your site.

Howto Add an Affiliate Banner to Blogger Sidebar

A lot of people want to make money from their blog and for this reason want to learn how to insert affiliate banners into their Blogger Blogspot blog. In this tutorial which is the first of a series I will show you how to place a banner in the sidebar of your Blogger Blog. Even if you are new to Blogger and have very little technical knowledge this tutorial is still suitable for you as I will guide you through every step in the process of adding a banner ad to the sidebar of your Blogger blog.

It is relatively easy to add an affiliate banner to the sidebar of your blog.

1. Sign up with an affiliate marketing program like Commission Junction and select your merchant

square banners 200x200 (if space allows)

short vertical banners 120x200

long column style skyscraper bnnners 120x600 or 160x600

To Center Your Advertising Banner

If you want to center your banner ad insert < center> before the merchant code and < /center> after it.

Add More Than One Banner

If you want to add more than one banner ad to the same widget you can just by pasting the code for the second banner ad below the first lot of code. If you want some white space between the banners ads insert < p> between each lot of code.

Troubleshooting

Your Banner Does Not Display

Your banner ad should appear right away. If your banner ad doesn't display at all then there is a problem with the widget you have just created. Retrace your steps making sure you have got all the code.

Only Placeholder for the Banner Displays

If you see a placeholder but no ad displays then your the affiliate website may be off line or there is a problem with the code in some way. Go back and make sure you copied all of the code correctly

In this tutorial you have learned how to add an affiliate marketing advertisment banner to the sidebar of your Blogger Blogspot blog and about some common problems that you may encounter. How to show ads between my posts?

If you want to show ads between your posts but chose not to do it while initially signing up for AdSense, first go to your Template Page Elements tab. Then, in the "Blog Posts" section, click on "Edit". A pop-up window will appear with options to configure your blog posts. Check the box next to "Show Ads Between Posts". (Note: You must be signed up for AdSense before you can check this box.)

Once you check this box you'll see the configuration options for your ads. You can then select how often you would like ads to be shown after your posts.

For example, if you want ads to be displayed after every post, select "1" from the drop-down menu. (Please note that AdSense policies limits you to a total of 3 ad units per page and Blogger will automatically prevent you from going over this limit.) You can then select your ad format and colors. Once you have finished configuring your ads, click on the orange "Save Changes" button in the bottom right corner.

Howto put AdSense on my blog (using a classic template)?

The Quick Answer
•Go to the Template AdSense tab and sign up for AdSense, if necessary.
•Select the size and color of your ads.
•You'll see a preview of your blog as you make changes.

Note: This article assumes you are using a classic template. On a Layouts-enabled blog, just add a new page element and select the AdSense option.Adding AdSense to your blog is easy. Go to the Template tab in Blogger and you'll see an "AdSense ads" tab below it:

If you don't have an AdSense account already, you can sign up for it right here within Blogger. Just enter a valid email address, choose a password, fill in some contact information (so you can get paid!) and then Blogger will register your account for you right away. If you do have an account already, just use the "sign in" link instead.

Once you've completed the sign-up form, or logged in to an existing account, you'll see a special preview version of your template, showing your blog as it will look with your new ads:

Using the menus above the preview, you can easily change the size, shape, and color of your ads, without ever needing to edit the code directly. The color menu has some preset color schemes, but also some flexible options that try to match, contrast, or blend with whatever template you happen to be using. Try them all out and see which setting works best.

Once you've decided how you'd like it to look, just save the changes and republish your blog. Then go check your email.

While you were deciding on layouts and colors, you probably received a confirmation email from AdSense. Find that email and click on the link it gives you to confirm your email address. Be sure to read the rest of the confirmation email as well, since it will contain other information on finishing the registration and approval process. Until your email address is confirmed and your AdSense application is approved, your ads will only show public service announcements (PSAs) rather than targeted ads. Since you don't get revenue from PSAs, you'll want to be sure to do this soon, so the AdSense bot can crawl your site and determine appropriate ads to show.

And now you're done! Congratulations -- you've got AdSense!

Note: This article assumes you are using a classic template. For Layouts-enabled blogs, you can simply add a new AdSense page element to your sidebar, or drag an existing element to the desired location.
If you're new to AdSense and not too familiar with making modifications to your blog's template, you can follow these instructions for placing AdSense code in your blog's sidebar (using the Minima template as an example).

Assuming you have already signed up and been approved for a Google AdSense account, you should be able to log in here. Once you're signed in, click the AdSense Settings tab near the top of the page. To cut right to the chase, focus on these steps:

1.Choose Your Ad Layout - To fit ads in your sidebar, it's best to choose one of the following ad layouts.
Button (125x125)
Skyscraper (120x600)
Wide Skyscraper (160 x 600)
Vertical Banner (120 x 240)
Small Rectangle (180x150)

2.Choose a color palette - They are very cleverly named but it's really just a matter of your preference.

3.Copy your AdSense code - At the bottom of the page, there's a box with code in it. Highlight all of that code and copy it.

4.Paste the code somewhere - Notepad or Text Edit or something like that is a good place for now.

5.Go to Blogger.com and sign in - Choose the blog you want to put ads on and click the template tab.

6.This is less of a step and more of a precaution - Copy your entire Blogger template and save it in Notepad or Text Edit just in case.
